It's kind of fun to do the impossible.(不可能なことに取り組むのは、結構楽しいものである。) ---- Walt Disney

Rabbit Hole ラビットホール

It depicts how each parent copes differently with their tragedy, their son's death. The wife, played by Nicole Kidman(ニコール・キッドマン), wants to get rid of everything that reminds her of her son. While the husband, played by Aaron Eckhart(アーロン・エッカート)wants to hold on to everything that brings him beautiful memories of his son. The couple's marriage nearly falls apart as each looks for comfort in different ways. The wife finds peace in an odd relationship with the teenage driver who struck their son, yet the husband finds happiness with others outside the home. The acting, especially the two leads, is superb, and there is no happy ending but it has some nice commentary on life and coping with tragedy.

Cherry Blossom Festival is taking place in Sakura-Shinmachi(Setagaya-ward), where the author of "Sazae-san" used to live, this weekend (April 22nd). Chloe クロエ

I would say "Chloe" is a modern erotic thriller. It depicts human nature and instincts engagingly and entertainingly. A woman, played by Julianne Moore(ジュリアン・ムーア), is convinced that her husband, played by Liam Neeson(リーアム・ニーソン), is cheating on her, and in her pursuit of the truth, she looks for alternative ways to find out if her husband can betray her. She seeks out a prostitute, played by Amanda Seyfried(アマンダ・セイフライド), hiring her to test her husband. Julianne Moore shines as usual and it's also great to see Amanda playing a hotter, more mature role than before.

Moneyball マネーボール

It's a witty and elegant story of the Oakland A's, a baseball team that had been almost bankrupt but managed to overcome adversity through intelligence and perseverance. Brad Pitt(ブラッド・ピット)plays Billy Beane, the team's general manager who didn't know at first what to do to lead the low-budget team to be successful. Then he met Pete Brand, played by Jonah Hill(ジョナ・ヒル), an economic major from Yale University. Pete devises a formula that analyzes players and reveal statistics about players in a way nobody else does, which lead Billy and Pete stand up for what they believe is right. Such an inspiring and moving film using baseball as a backdrop for its deeper and more universal themes.

Letters to Juliet ジュリエットからの手紙

"Letters to Juliet" is entertaining throughout the entire film with it's interesting story plot and likable characters. Amanda Seyfried(アマンダ・セイフライド)plays as a sweet, young, engaged woman named Sophie, who finds a note written over 50 years ago by Claire, played by Vanessa Redgrave(ヴァネッサ・レッドグレーヴ), who talks of her one true love Lorenzo, and Sophie replies. It's worth enjoying the performance of Vanessa, who is still a very elegant and beautiful lady and gives credibility to Claire. The witty and bright Amanda seems to have fun performing Sophie, and Christopher Egan(クリストファー・イーガン)completes the charming young lead couple.
