Tom Ford（トム・フォード）'s debut as a director was indeed a startling success. I don't really follow the fashion world too closely, but I would say the film's exquisite images and story should touch any audience. It centers on a professor who has difficulty in coping with his everyday life after the sudden death of his beloved partner. We are born single and usually die alone, and "A Single Man" dramatizes our loneliness in a powerful and literally haunting way. Colin Firth（コリン・ファース）'s painful expressions have such a powerful effect that they could haunt you. The chemistry between Colin Firth and Julianne Moore（ジュリアン・ムーア）was superb as well.
