A Dog's Purpose 僕のワンダフル･ライフ

The film's message is about the bonds that humans and dogs share, and it also helps with people dealing with the loss of a pet just like the heart-warming original book by W. Bruce Cameron（Ｗ･ブルース･キャメロン ）. The cast was excellent too. Young Ethan, teen Ethan, and grown Ethan were all wonderful, and so is each Hannah. It's not just a movie for dog lovers, but animals of all kinds.

at my alma mater 母校にて(8)

Those new picture books I translated have visited Tsuda University Alumnae Association. Also, one of my English teacher colleagues Sally sensei and a younger member of our university's independent forum, "Translators' Network" held read-aloud sessions, and I really appreciate such beautiful opportunities. Many many thanks. Hope that our alumnae, especially the ones who are engaged in basic English or Japanese education and the ones who are in the middle of child-raising will enjoy using those books, and that the books will meet lots of new friends. Their books can be borrowed for 1 month in term time

IT イット"それ"が見えたら、終わり。

When the book came out in 1986, it was a hit. When the miniseries came out four years later, it was also a hit. Then here is the movie, which became a mega hit. If you're a fan of horror films based on Stephen King(スティーヴン･キング）'s best selling books, it is worth watching. The entire casting choices were sensational. All actors really held their own, creating a sense of comradery between the characters.

A Street Cat Named Bob ボブという名の猫 幸せのハイタッチ

Based on the international best selling book, it showed us how an animal can change our lives, how it can make our days happier, make us smile, and give us a reason to live. We can enjoy seeing how James Bowen, a busker recovering drug addict, had his life transformed when he met a stray ginger cat. If you are an animal person, the film may be even more rewarding.

The Food Revenge たべもののふくしゅう

"The Food Revenge" with my translation has been published this week. The author, being a math teacher for 35 years in high school, and a mother of four children (twins - a son & daughter) and grandmother of five (twin grandchildren - a boy & girl) has written a lot of books for which she has used her imagination on her experiences with the twins. This adorable gem was written under the theme of importance of food and good manners. I sincerely hope both children and adults will enjoy this book in English and Japanese.
今週、翻訳いたしました『たべもののふくしゅう』が出版されました。35年間、高校の数学教師として教鞭を取られてきた著者は、4児（男女の双子）の母であり、5人の孫（男女の双子）の祖母。双子の子孫たちとの経験を通して得られたイマジネーションを活かした作品が多く、本作も食べ物とマナーの大切さをテーマとした可愛らしい一作となっています。 英語と日本語のバイリンガルで、大人も子どももお楽しみいただければ幸甚です。

Gold ゴールド／金塊の行方

The whole story is based on the Bre-X scandal, which hit the worldwide headlines in the nineties. Some details are changed, but on the whole the story follows the real events pretty accurate combining the elements of a treasure hunt, allure, and adventure with a corporate thriller and realism. Matthew McConaughey（マシュー･マコノヒー）is amazing as Kenny Wells, a raving maniac with a fearless mentality and a complete lack of respect for Wall Street hotshots or mining moguls. The scandal was a prime example of excessive capitalist greed, and the film is a nice reminder of it.

Kittens' story time おはなしこねこの会 2018.02

I joined "Kittens' story time", a read-aloud session hosted by "The Wildcat Translation Club of Children's Books" today, and was lucky enough to be able to read aloud some wonderful picture books in front of such adorable little book lovers at Junkudo Ikebukuro Honten children's books section, such a hear-warming and beautiful urban oasis in the middle of Tokyo. Many many thanks for such a wonderful opportunity. Good boys and girls who love picture books, please come and join us. They are holding their regular sessions every month at Junkudo Ikebukuro Honten and Maruzen Marunouchi Honten.
