Amazing Grace アメイジング・グレイス

An inspiring story based on a historical legend, William Wilberforce(ウィリアム・ウィルバーフォース), a British Member of Parliament. Being elected to Parliament, he lead the fight to ban slavery for several decades during the late 18th century and early 19th century. The film depicts the entrenched economic motives and the political motives for slavery powerfully, and Ioan Gruffudd(ヨアン・グリフィズ)did an excellent job showing the complexity and heroism of Wilberforce, who was strong, religious, idealistic, yet at times naive, romantic, and sick. To enjoy every single minute of the film, never turn away your faces even from some cruel scenes where the captured Africans turned into slave, where the slaves are treated inhumanely and die of starvation, neglect, disease, and filth.
