Miss You Already マイ･ベスト･フレンド

It was based on real life events something that unfortunately many of us must have experienced in our own families. Great acting, good sense of humor at the right place at the right time. The story of the friendship of these two characters was beautiful,sometimes hilarious, and the story of how one battles with cancer is heartbreaking, particularly in the last scenes. Toni Collette （トニ･コレット）is giving one of the finest performances and gets excellent support from Drew Barrymore（ドリュー･バリモア）and the rest of the cast.

Stormy Whether ストーミー･ウェザー

"Stormy Whether" with my translation was released today. This is a musical film with an African-American cast as a consolation movie for the soldiers during the World War 2. It depicts how a soldier who has just come back from Europe and a popular club singer make a good match and get together. There are lots of worth-seeing and impressive scenes such as Fats Waller's singing & piano, Nicholas Brothers' accomplished dances, and Lena Horne's "Stormy Whether" aka this movie title. I sincerely hope all of you will enjoy this fine gem which was selected for the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2001.

Yousho no Mori 10th anniversary celebration 洋書の森10周年記念祝賀会

I joined Japan Publisher's Club "Yousho no Mori (Wood of Foreign Books)" 10th anniversary celebration today. After the interesting lecture by Mr. Koji Inokuchi and Ms. Mariko Kono, we had such an enjoyable and fruitful time with some teachers and translators at their party. Thank you so much. The lecturers' new books are being published one after another. Wishing "Yousho no Mori (Wood of foreign books)", which marks 10th anniversary this year, and their members continued success and prosperity.
本日は日本出版クラブ「洋書の森」10周年記念講演&祝賀会へ参加いたしました。井口耕二先生と河野万里子先生の興味深い講演のあと、祝賀会でも、先生方、翻訳者の皆さま方とともに、楽しく充実したひと時を過ごせまして誠にありがとうございます。先生方の新作も続々と出版が続くそう。今年10周年を記念される「洋書の森」の更なるご発展、会員の皆さまのご活躍をお祈り申し上げます。
祝賀会直前にブクブク交換達成。日本とフィンランドの偏差値70超、東大卒の訳者さまとヘルシンキ大卒の著者さまの作品が交差した隙に、スティーブ･ジョブズがお寿しを、ルーシーちゃんがプレゼン力をお裾分けしてもらった瞬間。ありがとうございます。

1,2,3, Red Blue Green… あか、あお、みどり…

"1,2,3, Red Blue Green…" with my translation has been published this week. The author, being a math teacher for 35 years in high school, and a mother of four children (twins - a son & daughter) and grandmother of five (twin grandchildren - a boy & girl) has written a lot of books for which she has used her imagination on her experiences with the twins, and this adorable gem was written under the theme of recognizing colors and counting numbers. I sincerely hope both children and adults will enjoy this book in English and Japanese.
今週、翻訳いたしました『1,2,3, あか、あお、みどり…』が出版されました。35年間、高校の数学教師として教鞭を取られてきた著者は、4児（男女の双子）の母であり、5人の孫（男女の双子）の祖母。双子の子孫たちとの経験を通して得られたイマジネーションを活かした作品が多く、本作も色の見分け方や数の数え方をテーマとした可愛らしい一作となっています。 英語と日本語のバイリンガルで、親子そろってお楽しみいただければ幸甚です。

Bridget Jones's Baby ブリジット･ジョーンズの日記 ダメな私の最後のモテ期

The film sees Bridget, now turning 43, as a successful news producer, who is still single and childless. The movie also does a great job of showing who each one of the characters would be 12 years on. Bridget has grown and figures out things in life while still keeping sense of humor and being a clumsy mess in certain situations. The cast is very strong, especially, Emma Thompson(エマ･トンプソン) is a wonderful addition as Bridget's obstetrician.
